GeoDragon sensor system installed on to Arcturus T-20 UAS

Arcturus UAV’s T-20 Tier II unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has been installed and flown with an Urban Robotics-designed GeoDragon sensor system.

The GeoDragon system provides the T-20 UAV with significant 3-D imaging and mapping capabilities and is expected to be released in mid-2014.

Enclosed in a wing-mounted pod and capable of high resolution 2-D and 3-D image capture, the sensor system can develop 3-D reconstructions in near-real time and provide high-resolution digital elevation models, LIDAR-like datasets, and wide area maps.

The system features low weight, small operational footprint on the ground, a quick mount/dismount pod, quiet operation and can simultaneously fly with other payloads such as EO/IR on the T-20.

The T-20 small tactical UAV is runway independent and has been designed to carry out primary missions including intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.

Capable of performing typical missions such as aerial mapping, drug interdiction, fire-fighting, border patrol, force protection, search and rescue, and military intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; the UAV has a technical readiness level (TRL) nine.

Powered by a 190cc air-cooled, four-stroke and fuel injected engine, the T-20 payloads include full motion video from daylight and infrared cameras.

Designed to allow for payloads up to 65 lbs, the unmanned system provide video to mission commanders on the ground through a secure data link.
