Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department to receive Cassidian’s P25 Land Mobile Radio system

Kenwood has signed an agreement with Cassidian Communications to deliver its trunked P25 land mobile radio system for the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department for public safety communications in the US.

Under the subcontract, Cassidian will supply a single site, ten-channel UHF CORP25 radio solution including hardware, software and staging for the county.

Kenwood USA Systems Division general manager John North said the advanced radio solution will ensure reliable and interoperable communications to all emergency responders.

The CORP25 is a non-proprietary P25 system and features open design to enable public safety agencies to select best-in-class components from a variety of different vendors.

Hopkins County sheriff Frank Latham said, "This agreement allows us to benefit from the combined experience of Kenwood USA and Cassidian Communications, and we are confident that our first responders from the Sheriff, EMS and Fire departments will have the quality of communications they need to keep the citizens of Hopkins County safe."

In addition to enabling cost-effective migration to future applications and services, the IP-based CORP25 radio solution provides the flexibility to easily accommodate other agencies that may join the network in the future while replacing network currently used by the department.
