GSA awards EaaS task order to Lockheed

Lockheed Martin has been awarded a contract by the General Services Administration (GSA) to assist government-wide cloud computing programme.

Under the new Email as a Service (EaaS) contract, Lockheed will help federal mandates for migrating information technology to the cloud for federal, state and local government agencies.

Lockheed, as one of the 17 contractors for the blanket purchase agreement programme, will also provide secure cloud-based email service, office automation (virtual office) and electronic records management.

The company will provide migration services and integration services through private, secret, government community and public cloud computing environments.

The five-year EaaS programme has an overall value of $2.5bn.

Lockheed Martin’s Information Systems & Global Solutions-Civil IT & Security Solutions line of business vice president Vicki Schmanske said, "As the largest provider of IT services to the federal government, Lockheed Martin is uniquely qualified to help agencies derive the maximum benefits of cloud computing."

"With our mission-focused, flexible approach, federal customers will have easy access to secure, affordable and innovative cloud solutions," Schmanske added.

Lockheed will provide Solutions as a Service (SolaS) secure cloud solution for the EaaS task orders while the programme will be available to federal agencies through GSA’s IT Schedule 70.

Companies in the EaaS task orders involve Accenture Federal Services, Autonomic Resources, CGI Federal, Ciracom, Computer Sciences Corporation, Dell Federal Systems, DLT Solutions, General Dynamics Information Technology, Harris, IBM Global Business Services, Lockheed Martin, Onix Networking, Science Applications International Corporation, Smartronix, Systems Research and Applications Corporation, Technosource, and Unisys.
