ADTI to develop small lightweight drone for homeland security

Advanced Defense Technologies (ADTI) is developing a small lightweight drone and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) systems to support homeland security and public safety missions.

ADTI president and CEO RS Tahim said that the company is developing hand launched lightweight drones to serve as primary surveillance tool for both military and public safety officers.

"Law enforcement operations, search and rescue, and public safety officers should be able to launch and control the unmanned systems with limited experience and collision risk as all of the drones will be equipped with ADTI’s sense and avoid technology."

The drones are expected to provide military with defensive capability against potential threats through consistent and targeted surveillance.

The design technology of the system has been developed under SBIR Programs with government agencies including NASA, DARPA, Phillips Labs as well as the US military departments namely, US Air Force, US Army, US Navy and MDA.

"Expanding homeland security and public safety officers’ surveillance capabilities through the use of lightweight drones will increase security at a lower cost as it will be generally be cheaper to fly a small drone over a burning building, a busy port, or miles of international border than it is to hire and clear a manned plane or helicopter," Tahim added.
