Cassidian to deliver P25 LMR solution to City of Montréal

The City of Montréal Agglomeration Council has awarded the système évolué de radiocommunication de l’agglomération de Montréal (SÉRAM) contract to Cassidian to supply a digital, trunked P25 land mobile radio (LMR) solution in Montréal, Canada.

Under the contract, Cassidian will deliver simulcast/multicast CORP25 solution to replace the currently operational communications networks service such as the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) and Service des incendies de Montréal (SIM) law enforcement and fire agencies.

The company will also provide public work services in the cities and boroughs of the Urban Agglomeration of Montreal.

SÉRAM project director Daniel Tetu said, "The fact that all of our users can be on one system that it can talk to other public safety networks and that it allows us to choose both equipment and vendors, means that all of Montréal’s responders can count on a swift, reliable communications solution provided within budget."

Featuring other P25 mission-critical networks, the Standards-based CORP25 system enables simple and cost-effective growth while providing interoperability within and between systems.

Cassidian Communications Land Mobile Radio chief operating officer François Begaud said: "Montréal’s first responders needed a flexible, advanced radio solution that could deliver the performance and reach that is a must for public safety communications and other services, and the Agglomeration Council needed to procure that same solution while staying true to their fiscal responsibilities."

The system is scheduled to be operational by 2014.
