Elbit to provide secure broadband mobile solution for US DHS

Elbit Systems has been awarded a contract by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science & Technology Group to provide a technology demonstrator for a secure broadband services solution for first responders.

Under the contract, Elbit will provide technology demonstrator to enable any-to-any secure, interoperable, multimedia services with seamless connectivity between various networks for US DHS.

Based on capabilities developed in Elbit Systems Land and C4I division, the technology will demonstrate an advanced interoperable communication solution for many Federal agencies as well as state and local public safety authorities nationwide.

Elbit Systems of America president and CEO Raanan Horowitz said, "Recent events in the U.S. and the evolving FirstNet’s LTE network infrastructure with other broadband initiatives for first responders and tactical forces globally provide new opportunities for Elbit Systems secure mobile HLS solutions."

Elbit’s technology will be used by the US DHS to test the new LTE broadband network with various mission critical secure multimedia services for public safety users.

The technology supports services such as push to talk (PTT), push to video (PTV), voice and video conferencing, video streaming, situation awareness data (command & control), LMR and telephone connectivity, as well as ad-hoc mesh network capabilities.

The US DHS will conduct field trails within selected homeland security components following completion of integration and proof of concept phase.
