IDF conducts exercise to prepare for SAR manoeuvres

The Israeli Defense Force’s (IDF) Home Front Command has conducted an exercise, aimed to prepare future commanders to handle emergency scenarios.

Primarily focused on search-and-rescue (SAR) manoeuvres, the drill is also aimed to prepare reservists who are under training to become battalion and company commanders.

The exercise involves Home Front Command’s SAR unit and the nuclear, biological, and chemical defense unit.

Search and Rescue Unit commander colonel Ramtin Sevti said, "We are determined to learn [and] improve our techniques in order to provide the best possible support for the Israeli home front."

The firefighting unit of the Home Front Command’s Central District conducted sessions for technical and theoretical information followed by a basic drill on the first day of the exercise.

During the drill conducted in the city of Kfar Saba, the crew lifted overturned truck, as a result of car accident and pulled people trapped under it and also involved essential change in the level of training and the techniques of training.

The unit comprising doctors, rescuers, and engineers in the field of recovery have assisted during emergencies both in Israel and abroad.

The IAF’s Aerial Firefighting Unit is seeking a number of upgrades which include upgraded aircraft and increased training.

Earlier this year, the IDF’s firefighting unit also conducted a five-day exercise, intended to prepare its soldiers to better confront emergency scenarios.
