LRAD to deliver LRAD 500X systems to Middle East customers

LRAD, the provider of long range acoustic hailing devices (AHDs), has been awarded international follow-on contracts for the LRAD 500X and accessories.

Under the contracts, totalling over $660,000, the company will deliver LRAD 500X to two member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council in the Middle East by 31 March 2014.

LRAD president and CEO Tom Brown said that the 500X units will be securely deployed aboard the public safety vehicles, providing for mobility and fast response when and where needed for communication.

"These follow on orders reflect the continued value that the Gulf Cooperation Council members see in the LRAD 500X, that allows for intelligible mass communication and effective public safety and crowd management," Brown added.

Capable of generating highly intelligible voice broadcasts from 300m to over 3.5km, the LRAD systems enable public safety personnel to issue authoritative and readily understandable voice communications and warning tones from standoff zones to de-escalate tense situations and save lives.

The lightweight LRAD 500X system also provides hailing and warning capability for security personnel and has also been selected as acoustic hailing device (AHD) by the US Navy and US Army for small vessels and vehicles.
