Russia’s Delfin-class ship integrated with new equipment

Russia’s Delfin-class Project 21300 lead search-and-rescue ship, Igor Belousov, has been integrated with new Krylov State Scientific Center-built electric propulsion system, intended to enhance its dynamic performance.

Being built by Admiralteysky Verfi shipyard, Igor Belousov ship is equipped with electric propulsion system to enhance its dynamic performance while enabling it to position and manoeuvre more precisely during rescue operations.

The new system has been installed such a way that it enables installations of other large number of lifesaving equipment onto the ship, according to Rusnavy news.

Capable of rescuing of crews from distressed submarines lying on the seabed or on surface, Igor Belousov ship can supply high-pressure air, electric power, and life saving equipment for surface ships and submarines.

The ship is equipped with a number of life-saving equipment including deep-sea submersible with operating depth of 700m, an up-to-date diving system for depths down to 450m and decompression chamber for 60 rescued submariners.

Launched in October 2012, the ship also features unmanned remotely-controlled submersible with operating depth of 700m, standard lifeboat cutter, electrohydraulic crane with servosystem and lifting capacity of 12.5t.

As a part of international rescue force, the 97.8m-long Project 21300 ship can independently search and examine damaged objects in assigned area.

Scheduled to be operational in 2014, the 5,037t ship has a beam capacity of 10.6m and can cruise at a speed of 15k while carrying a crew of 120.
