US Navy awards support services contract to Rockwell Automation

Rockwell Automation has been awarded a contract by the US Navy to provide control systems and engineering support services in support of the US Navy and Coast Guard surface ships.

Under the $21.7m contract, Rockwell Automation will provide programmable automation controllers, variable frequency drives, software, and engineering support services to operate machinery control systems equipped onboard the US Navy and Coast Guard surface ships.

Rockwell Automation marine business manager Joe Moffa said, "Control systems designed for the marine industry need to meet stringent requirements, especially for the U.S. Navy, which operates world-class fleets 24/7 throughout the world."

The company provides engineered systems and services for the US Navy and other Department of Defense (DoD) agencies which are vital to daily and strategic shipboard operations, domestically and globally.

"We are proud to meet these requirements and provide the machinery control systems, technical support and engineering services, on-site and through our global network of employees and distributors," Moffa added.

The programmable automation controllers (PACs) have been designed for distributed or supervisory control applications and to provide exceptional reliability and performance.

The company has been delivering products and software since 1997 to navies worldwide and are deployed successfully onboard various Navy and Coast Guard ships in more than 80 countries.
