Bell Helicopter sells four SAR helicopters to Chongqing General Aviation

Bell Helicopter has sold two Bell 412EPI and two Bell 407GX aircraft to Chongqing General Aviation, marking the first Bell aircraft to be used in China for missions including firefighting and search and rescue (SAR).

In addition to serving the Chongqing Fire Fighting Department, the four aircraft will support SAR and firefighting operations as well as assist during natural disasters by enabling access to toppled buildings, blocked roads and fallen bridge.

Bell Helicopter in China managing director Chris Jaran said that the company has collaborated with Chongqing in an effort to further parapublic offerings.

"We are honored to know Chongqing has chosen Bell Helicopter to support the Fire Protection Bureau to further their capabilities in firefighting and search and rescue and believe they have chosen two outstanding aircraft to fulfill their mission requirements," Jaran added.

Featuring optional 4-axis autopilot to allow hands-off automatic approaches, the Bell 412EPI provides ability to carry up to 13 officers, six patients for disaster management or more than 4,800 lbs (2,190 kg) of cargo load.

Chongqing General Aviation chairman and Chongqing Helicopter Investment president Gong Wei said, "We needed aircraft with capabilities above and beyond what our existing fleet offers, and we are certain Chongqing Fire Fighting Department will be eager to have these resources available for use."

The Bell 407 GX all-composite, four-bladed rotor system is designed for SAR operations, quick and easy patient loading and unloading and can be used for a variety of aircraft missions.
