Bell Helicopter to deliver two HEMS 429 aircraft to Middle East

Bell Helicopter has signed a purchase agreement to deliver first two Bell 429 aircraft build up for Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) in the Middle East.

Integrating a fully customised EMS interior and latest avionics, the new helicopters will support medical rescue missions all through the region after being delivered next year.

Bell Helicopter Middle East and Africa managing director Steve Suttles said: "In fact, of the nearly 200 Bell 429s operating worldwide, nearly 20 percent of them operate HEMS and parapublic missions.

"In recent years, a range of key global customers, including the Swedish National Police, New York Police Department, Turkish National Police, Air Zermatt and Wiltshire Air Ambulance, have all chosen the Bell 429 as the best solution for their mission needs."

The light twin-engine helicopter, with true two-litter capability, can accommodate two medical attendants and two crew members. The aircraft’s fully integrated glass cockpit, enhanced drive system and WAAS navigation and IFR capability help improve its flight performance.

Other safety features include a collective mounted throttle, damage tolerant hub and rotor system, and energy attenuating seats.

The Bell 429, which is claimed to be the first helicopter certified through the MSG-3 process, also integrates a large cabin and extra large 60-inch side doors, in addition to instrument flight rules (IFR) capability authorised for single or dual pilot operations.

Bell Helicopter Middle East regional sales manager David Sale said: "The advanced situational awareness and performance of the Bell 429 will be key for operators in the region to complete missions in this region as safely and effectively as possible.

"The total cost of ownership of the Bell 429 provides operators with value not only upon purchase, but also throughout the entire lifecycle of the aircraft."
