Canada selects Argon chemical warfare simulators for CBRN defence

Patlon Aircraft & Industries has been selected by the Canadian government to provide its armed forces with Argons’ chemical warfare training simulators.

Canada’s military will use the simulators to train the forces in detecting chemical warfare agents and toxic industrial chemicals.

Under the multi-million dollar contract, the company will provide its PlumeSIM training systems, as well as simulators for a range of the Canadian Forces’ chemical detectors.

Additionally, the company will also supply equipment for the Proengin AP4C detector and the S4PE surface sampler, as well as for the Smiths Detection LCD3.3 personal detector and LCD-Nexus fixed-site detector.

Argon managing director Steven Pike said the contract represents not only the performance but the cost-effectiveness of the systems.

"For example, the PlumeSIM system has a modular and highly flexible architecture, enabling our customers to expand and adapt the system in the future as their CBRN training needs change," Pike added.

Delivery of the simulation systems will take place in the next eighteen months and are planned to be installed at the chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear training facility at Canadian Forces Base Borden and several other bases throughout the country.

Patlon is the Canadian subsidiary of Argon Electronics.
