Fresno Police Department orders Taser body-worn cameras

Taser International’s subsidiary EVIDENCE.com has been awarded a contract by the Fresno Police Department, US, for the delivery of 100 AXON body-worn video cameras.

In addition to offering cameras, Taser will offer a five-year subscription to EVIDENCE.com as the backend digital evidence management system.

Fresno Police chief Jerry Dyer said: "We continue to see positive results from the Taser AXON cameras that our officers began wearing in September of last year.

"This technology from Taser and EVIDENCE.com has proven to be extremely effective and invaluable to our officers and the community through enhanced transparency.

Powered by a pocketsize battery pack, Taser’s small, yet highly visible Axon cameras can be attached to sunglasses, a cap, a shirt collar, or a head mount.

When activated, cameras will capture a wide-angle, full-colour view in front of officer, which will then be automatically uploaded through a docking station to EVIDENCE.com, a cloud-based storage and management system, where they can be accessed for review.

Further, the company claims that the video files stored online or on the Axon video camera are secure and cannot be meddled in.

EVIDENCE.com general manager Marcus Womack said: "We’re thrilled to see that our Axon body-worn video cameras have a positive effect on police agencies and are ultimately making communities safer.

"The increase of data that comes along with using on-officer video makes cost-effective evidence management a challenge."

EVIDENCE.com assists police in capturing, managing, and sharing their digital facts without the complexity as well offering greater transparency with seamless integration with the Axon body-worn video cameras.
