Lockheed bags US Coast Guard’s C4ISR support contract

Lockheed Martin has been awarded a contract by the Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) to support the US Coast Guard’s (USCG) efforts to implement maritime sovereignty and tackle at-sea threats.

Under the $69m contract, Lockheed Martin will be tasked with the provision of the command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) system for the USCG’s seventh National Security Cutter (NSC), which would be the future USCGC Kimball.

Lockheed Martin Coast Guard and Mission Control Systems program director Joe Buss said that the National Security Cutter’s C4ISR system is critical to ensuring the USCG can support the nation’s maritime strategy.

"Our brave men and women of the Coast Guard rely on the accuracy and timeliness of the data our system provides to achieve their many missions and maritime operations," Buss added.

Aimed at offering comprehensive, real-time situational awareness, commonality and interoperability, the company’s C4ISR system enables a greater collection and sharing of maritime data.

Further, the system also enables the USCG crew members to view vessels in distress or targets of interest; collaborate with other Coast Guard air, sea and land assets; and work on the most latest accessible information.

Earlier, Lockheed Martin received USCG contract to deploy its MONAXOffice to update electronic records on wireless devices of medical providers and health care staff.
