LRAD receives public safety order for LRAD 1000X and 500X systems

LRAD has received an international public safety order from an undisclosed customer for LRAD 1000X and LRAD 500X systems and accessories.

Under the a $1.9m contract, the LRAD will begin delivery of the LRAD 1000X and LRAD 500X systems in this quarter and conclude early next quarter.

LRAD Corporation president and CEO Tom Brown said LRAD systems are currently operational with law enforcement and public safety officials for a variety of applications.

"Due to their exceptional clarity and range, LRAD systems are proving invaluable for communicating to crowds during large outdoor events," Brown added.

Currently deployed by the US Navy and US Army as their acoustic hailing device (AHD) for small vessels and vehicles, the lightweight LRAD 500X systems can be easily transported to provide military and security personnel long range communications.
The system will also provide highly effective hailing and warning capability and enables operators to issue clear, authoritative verbal commands to enhance response capabilities.

"LRAD systems are also being used to peacefully end hostage negotiations, safely conduct SWAT operations and warrant service, conduct search and rescue operations, and communicate potentially lifesaving information to those affected by natural or man-made disasters," Brown further added.

Designed to provide superior voice intelligibility, the LRAD 1000X provides powerful broadcasts and has an extended frequency range.
The US Navy currently operates the LRAD 1000X on its shipboard protection system.
