Raytheon receives first Southeast Asia DTRA border security contract

Raytheon has received a Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) maritime border security contract to provide border security integration and training as well as facilities design and construction to the Philippines government.

Under the two-year base contract, Raytheon will design and construct a National Coast Watch Center (NCWC) and support integration of data from various agencies into the NCWC.

The company will also provide acquisition, installation and training on an automatic identification system as well as radio communications for the Government of the Philippines.

Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services business Surveillance, Range, and Infrastructure Solutions director David Appel said the contract will enable the company to continue to provide critical services and solutions to help other countries deter, detect and interdict illicit weapons and materials that could harm their citizens.

"The Philippines contract extends Raytheon’s border security solutions portfolio to Southeast Asia and confirms that our integration solutions, program management leadership and international expertise are valuable as we expand our support of customers around the world," Appel added.

Scheduled to end on 31 July 2015, the contract is valued at up to $18m if all options are exercised and is the Raytheon’s first border security-related contract in Southeast Asia.
