Raytheon, Twisted Pair Solutions partner to assist first responders

Raytheon has signed an agreement with Twisted Pair Solutions to provide a variety of hand-held devices to first responders.

Under the terms of the accord, Raytheon’s interoperability server will be integrated to Twisted Pair’s WAVE software for smartphones and tablets to securely connect to existing land mobile radio (LMR) infrastructure.

The new software will enable police, fire and emergency rescue workers to securely transmit critical voice and data through the use of 4G/LTE devices.

Raytheon’s Network Centric Systems business Public Safety and Security director TJ Kennedy said that the integration of WAVE application onto server will enable first responders to communicate in real-time through any device, anywhere.

"Together we provide a low-cost solution for police departments that are running out of spectrum on their existing infrastructure and need to increase their capabilities," Kennedy added.

Twisted Pair president and CEO Tom Guthrie said that the new team will provide new, economical choices for law enforcement communications.

"Our joint efforts will provide flexible access to critical communications from commercial devices in an integrated and secure manner," Guthrie added.

Capable of providing integration of existing and future technologies, WAVE multi-component interoperability and mobile workforce communications solution is currently in service with the Department of Defense, federal government and law enforcement agencies worldwide.

Raytheon’s server has been designed to provide interoperability between LMR radio systems which include P25 through ISSI as well as landline and VoIP phones, and 4G/LTE.
