Scottish Police Authority selects Accenture to develop new policing system

Accenture (ACN) has been selected by the Scottish Police Authority and Police Scotland to develop and maintain new operational policing system, i6, for Police Scotland.

Under the contract, the company will implement national information management system for the use by the Police Scotland to support new standardised national policing processes and daily policing operations and investigations.

The contract scope also includes user training and implementation support, on-going system maintenance and technology support services while the solution will provide opportunity for additional future capability for the Scottish Police Authority and Police Scotland.

The contract is for 10 years and includes options for two-year extension.

Police Scotland Deputy Chief Constable Richardson said the Police Scotland aims to protect people and maximising operational, frontline police activity.

"In addition, i6 offers us real value for money over the long-term with the introduction of a modern, agile and sustainable ICT solution, which replaces legacy systems operated by the previous forces in Scotland," Richardson said.

In order to drive operational and process efficiencies and increase information sharing across the new national force, the Accenture Police Services will provide technology and implementation services to Police Scotland.

Additionally, the system will enable users to manage, analyse and share operational and case information across Scotland.

UK Accenture Police Services lead James Slessor said, "Through new standardized business processes and the innovative use of technology, this new system will give Police Scotland the high levels of data integration and information sharing required for their officers to work swiftly and effectively while enabling operational savings."

More than 120 IT-and paper-based systems will be replaced by the i6 into the new policing system, which is scheduled to be launched by late 2015 to all Police Scotland divisions.
