SES-GS to support US’ Custom SATCOM Solutions

SES Government Solutions (SES-GS) has been awarded Custom SATCOM Solutions (CS2) contract by the US Government.

Under the multi-awarded contract, SES-GS, as one of the eight awardees, will extend the means of access to global satellite fleet for the US Government while providing custom network capabilities.

CS2 is the third phase of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and the General Services Administration (GSA)-developed Future Commercial Services Acquisition (FCSA) programme, aimed at enhancing the means to procure satellite capability for the Government from industry.

SES Government Solutions president and CEO Tip Osterthaler said: "The government traditionally approaches any acquisition of communications capability from a requirements perspective."

"Beginning with the mission requirement, as an industry we’re able to respond with a customized solution, tailored to meet their unique needs," Osterthaler added.

The contract enables the US Government to directly contract the global satellite operator to obtain mission-tailored communications capability on SES’ fleet of 51 communication satellites.

"The CS2 contract is a step in the right direction as it enables the government to procure capability in a fashion that’s in line with the way they operate," Osterthaler said.

The recent contract has a total ceiling value of $2.6bn for base period of three years and has two additional one-year options.
