US DoS receives 4000th Sectera vIPer secure phone from GD

General Dynamics C4 Systems (GDC4S) has delivered about 4000 of its Sectera vIPer universal secure phones to the US Department of State (DoS) to date, since the first delivery in 2007.

Aimed at replacing the obsolete secure terminal equipment (STE) phones currently in use with the DoS, the vIPer Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone transforms and secures voice and data communications from the Top Secret-level and below for domestic and internationally positioned US government personnel.

General Dynamics C4 Systems president Chris Marzilli said the vIPer phones are easy-to-use and deliver secure voice and data connectivity, with unprecedented dependability, for department personnel globally.

"With a touch of a button, calls can transition from unencrypted to encrypted and secure, immediately ‘hardening’ the communications network from a call’s origin to its destination, from one office to another, or across continents," Marzilli said.

In addition, the Sectera vIPer Universal Secure Phones work on legacy, public switched telephone networks (PSTN) and IP networks such as satellite communication systems.

Interoperable with all US government secure phones, US Department of Defence (DoD) networks and commercial VoIP phones, GD’s universal secure phone can easily be integrated into a communications network.

Additionally, the vIPer secure phones come with features that assist in increasing personnel working efficiency, including caller ID and individual phone-call history.
