UTM and Phoenix RBT launch select fire rifle conversion kit

Ultimate Training Munitions (UTM) and Phoenix RBT Solutions have jointly unveiled a new UTM select fire rifle conversion kit and 7.62mm non-lethal training ammunition (NLTA) as well as personal protective equipment (PPE) at the ongoing annual 2013 SHOT Show.

Scheduled to run from 15 to 18 January, the show is held at the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas, Neveda, US.

The new conversion kit has been developed for the Heckler & Koch HK417 select fire battle rifle to convert it into a training tool by adding the UTM 100% fail safe conversion bolt and removing the live bolt.

On conversion to a training weapon, the rifle cannot fire live ammunition due to its 3mm offset firing pin and will only fire UTM’s new 7.62mm NLTA.

Phoenix RBT Solutions co-CEO Steve Didier said the new 7.62mm conversion kit and NLTA will further enhance realism during force-on-force and force-on-target training drills and scenarios.

"With more and more 7.62mm select fire rifles being used in live theater it’s critical that we have new training solutions in place to ensure proficiency with all service weapons," Didier added.

Available in 39mm and 51mm lengths, the new 7.62mm NLTA round comes in three variants, namely Man Marker Round (MMR), Battlefield Blank Round (BBR) and Silent Blank Round (SBR).

A new 7.62 conversion kit and NLTA for M240B machine guns is expected to be released by the company by the end of 2013.

The company has also introduced a new facemask, featuring a moulded goggle frame with Revision’s Desert Locust goggle lens for enhanced eye protection and to reduce heat retention through the nosepiece.
