Saab to provide next generation SAFE system to Cumbria Constabulary in UK

SAFE  is a command, control and communication system that helps in operational policing.

This solution will be used to manage all incidents reported by the public via emails, webchat and chat services, through to intelligent resource management by making use of Airwave and the Emergency Services Network (ESN) radio communications.

Field officers will gain access and update incident details besides capturing and sharing information through their SAFE mobile app.

Cumbria’s Police and Crime Commissioner Peter McCall said: “Cumbria Constabulary are excited to be working with Saab on the delivery of the SAFE system which will deliver leading-edge policing. The numerous existing systems that once served Cumbria well have limited development opportunities and this new technology will bring many public benefits.

“SAFE will provide superior live-time reporting which allows for resources to be deployed effectively and increases visibility, which I know is something that the public want. The introduction of SAFE is something I am very keen to see implemented and I am looking forward to seeing this come to fruition next year.”

Saab has around 300 employees located across five offices in the UK.  SAFE is operational in the control rooms of over 30 organisations across the UK, Europe and the US.
