Implant Sciences delivers more explosives trace detectors to global customers

Implant Sciences has completed deliveries of additional explosives trace detectors worth more than $500,000 to undisclosed customers across the globe.

Under separate contracts, the company supplied its desktop Quantum Sniffer (QS)-B220 explosives and drugs trace detector as well as the handheld QS-H150 explosives trace detector.

The systems are scheduled to be used by customers for applications such as air cargo and critical infrastructure protection.

Implant Sciences Global Sales and Marketing vice-president Dr Darryl Jones said: "We are very happy to report that, as we have been successful in penetrating the aviation security market, international sales in our more "traditional" sectors have remained strong.

"Simply put: we take the job of protecting our customers from terrorist threats very seriously, and we are focused on continuing to provide our products to those customers who need it most."

Launched in May 2011, the QS-B220 is a desktop explosives and narcotics trace detector integrated with a high-resolution colour touch-screen that provides audio and visual alarm indications, including substance identification.

Using non-radioactive Ion Mobility Spectrometry (IMS) analysis technology, the QS-B220 can quickly detect and identify trace amounts of a range of military, commercial, and homemade explosives, including narcotic substances.

Capable of quickly and accurately detecting amounts of a wide variety of military, commercial, and homemade explosives, the QS-H150 system indicates parts-per-trillion levels of explosives vapour and nanogram quantities of explosives particulates for the users.

It has already validated its capability in varied temperatures and challenging environments, from humid jungles to dry, sand swept deserts.
